A Saturday Worth Remembering

This past weekend, we had the chance to experience something new at Perennial—their very first Saturday morning brunch service—and it absolutely lived up to the expectations we already had for one of our favorite spots in Montgomery.

We made our 11:00 AM reservation about two weeks in advance, before we had even seen the brunch menu. Honestly, that decision was easy. After so many great lunch and dinner experiences there, we trusted that brunch would be just as thoughtfully done.

If you’ve never been to Perennial, it’s tucked inside a beautiful house on Mulberry Street that has been transformed into a farm-to-table restaurant. As far as we know, it’s one of the only true farm-to-table dining experiences in Montgomery, and that alone makes it special—but the atmosphere is what keeps bringing us back.

One of our favorite things about Perennial is how much character the space has. Each room feels warm and intentional, with old cabinetry lining the walls filled with antique dishes, glassware, and silverware that are actually used throughout the restaurant. Every table feels different, the wallpaper adds so much charm, and the entire space feels cozy, inviting, and personal.

A few Saturdays ago, we stopped in and sat at the bar, where we met Megan, the bartender. While enjoying a tequila soda (always a good decision), we got to hear all about their plans to launch Saturday brunch service. That conversation made us even more excited—especially because Perennial carries Casa Esmeralda tequila from John Emerald Distilling Company, which we love and haven’t been able to find anywhere else in Montgomery.

When we walked in for brunch, one of the first things we noticed was how many familiar faces were there. It’s clear that Perennial is starting to get more attention, and honestly, it deserves it.

The brunch menu struck the perfect balance between elevated and approachable. There were standout dishes like the crab omelette (which was Brianne’s pick), cornmeal biscuits and gravy, and quiche, alongside classic comfort plates like eggs, sausage, and grits—which is exactly what Roy ordered.

The crab omelette was rich, flavorful, and felt like the kind of brunch dish you can’t easily recreate at home. Roy’s plate was simple in the best way—well-executed classics that remind you why they’re classics in the first place.

What stood out most, though, was that same consistency we’ve come to expect from Perennial: excellent service, quality ingredients, and an experience that feels thoughtful from start to finish.

Before we even left, we had already made our reservations for the next brunch.

That probably says it all.

If you’re in Montgomery and looking for a brunch spot that feels a little more special than the usual Saturday morning routine, we highly recommend adding Perennial to your list. It’s beautiful, it’s welcoming, and now—it’s officially a brunch destination.
